Deregulation, AI and Climate Change – The Critical Role of Safety Reps Into the Future
Equal Pay
In line with the theme of this year’s World AIDS Day (Sunday 1st December 2024), ‘Take the rights path: My health, my right!’, GMB London Region is reaffirming its commitment to ensuring that everyone living with HIV is protected from discrimination in the workplace.
The day provides an important opportunity to champion the right to health for those with HIV and AIDS by addressing the inequalities that hinder the eradication of this disease.
This means addressing the stigma and discrimination that undermine the fight against AIDS, including in the workplace.
Rachael Baylis, Equalities Officer, said:
“People living with HIV are protected by law from discrimination. It is illegal to discriminate against someone living with HIV at work.
“People with HIV can lead active working lives but may at times need some additional support to help them manage their illness.
“At GMB we are dedicated to defending the rights of our members and supporting our colleagues. This includes making all reasonable adjustments to remove any barriers for them at work.”
