Deregulation, AI and Climate Change – The Critical Role of Safety Reps Into the Future
Equal Pay
Security guards contracted by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and employed by G4S have secured a significant pay award.
Following a campaign by GMB Union, G4S agreed to a substantial pay increase of between 9.71 per cent and 13.05 per cent.
These guards, who were previously earning as little as the minimum wage, will now see a substantial boost in their earnings and receive a fairer wage for their essential work.
Andre Marques, GMB Regional Organiser, said:
“This is a great win for security guards on the FCDO contract.
“Some workers were struggling on wages as low as the minimum wage, and this uplift is a vital step towards fairness and dignity at work.
“Security guards play a crucial role in protecting key sites, and they deserve to be properly rewarded for their efforts.”
