Veolia refuse workers support Ukraine at a meeting of GMB members working for Veolia providing waste disposal services in Camden and Westminster on Wednesday 27th April.
Michael Dooley, GMB London Region MDO said:
“The meeting was held to discuss a pay increase for Veolia workers operating in Camden and Westminster.
“Following the story in the Camden New Journal on Friday 22nd April about Veolia’s operations in Russia our members felt they needed to show their solidarity with their Ukrainian trade unionists as agreed in statements from GMB and TUC, both unequivocally condemn Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
“Our members wanted to send a message of support and solidarity with their trade union brothers and sisters in Ukraine, which they have done worthily.”
GMB unequivocally condemns Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. There is no justification for such an appalling, illegal act, which has brought destruction and terror to the citizens of this independent sovereign nation.
The people of Ukraine should be able to go about their lives peacefully and the terrible violence and death being inflicted on them must stop.
