Dozens of staff at logistics and security giant Brink's have today [Wednesday 14 May] started voting on whether to take industrial action in a row over pay.

Members of the GMB union are unhappy after the company proposed a 3.3 per cent pay increase, which was rejected by 92 per cent of participating members in a recent vote.

These members work as driver couriers – a role that requires them to transport cash and valuables, leaving them vulnerable to attack.

Results of the ballot are expected on 28 May.

Andre Marques, GMB Regional Officer, said:

"Our members deserve to be recognised for the challenging and potentially dangerous work that they do.

“They have shown incredible patience during these pay negotiations but feel consistently ignored.

“This ballot for industrial action is a clear message to Brink's that enough is enough.”
